BS Media and Communications

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to promote a diverse, personal, innovative, ethical and economically thriving Media and Communication sector that contributes to the creation of successful and sustainable societies in a stage of technological and social change.

Learning Outcomes (PLO)

  • Ethical Consciousness - Students will be able
    • To demonstrate an understanding of professional ethical principles and work ethically in pursuit of truth, accuracy, fairness, and diversity.
    • To understand the legal and ethical implications of social media and other forms of media.
  • Communication Skills - Students will be able
    • To present with oral proficiency.
    • To write for a diverse audience, using proper grammar and punctuation, word usage and spelling, sentence and storytelling structure across multiple media formats.
    • To use information and communication tools.
  • Critical thinking skills– Students will be able
    • To explore and highlight critical contemporary issues associated with working in creative and media industries.
    • To look into the communication practices that enable us to navigate complex work situations skillfully.
  • Teamwork Skills – Students will be able
    • To work effectively within teams
  • PLOW:

    • To collaborate in the development of common projects working as a team.
    • To explore as a team the skills, strategies and professional expectations of collaborative media production.

    • To use key concepts in digital media making, using innovative approaches and a range of equipment and other material.

    • To make students comprehend narrative building processes and agenda setting.

    • To inculcate the understanding of current global perspectives on various local and global issues and concerns and how to address them.
  • Media and Communications knowledge
    • To understand and apply tools/digital tools and technologies appropriate for the media professions in which they work to communicate for and with diverse publics.
    • To transform knowledge into impact and drive innovation in their work.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission:

Candidate must have Intermediate / F.Sc with a minimum of 50% marks passed in annual examination with no supplement and no subject (s) condoned by Board OR A level (at least an average of grade in three principal subjects) OR American High School Diploma (with minimum of 60%) OR An international Baccalaureate (at least 28 points out of 45).
